Cvjetni trg (The Flower sqaure) and Bogoviceva street
Cvjetni trg (The Flower square) is actually Petar Preradovic square, however it has been dubbed The Flower square by the locals as it has also been known as the flower market. The flower shops and stalls are still here, however nowadays it has become a popular meeting point, the place to be seen and have coffee on Saturday mornings. A lot of bars cafes and bars have been opened and you will be hard stretched to find a table during the warmer weather even though every bar and café has a large terrace. There is a cinema right on the Flower square and a Serbian Orthodox church. Bogoviceva street is right opposite the Flower square, another street that is a host to many cafes and bars and the place to be seen on Saturday mornings (or the so-called spiza). Bogoviceva street can get so crowded even in winter months that the gas heaters are put on the terrace to make room for everyone wanting to have coffee. But also during the Christmas period, Bogoviceva is the place of the Zagreb's open Christmas fair, with plethora of stalls selling all types of gifts, trinkets and every item imaginable. [more] |
