Wailing Wall
The Western Wall or Wailing Wall of Jerusalem is one of the most impressive experiences in my traveling so far. I am not a religious person, so normally I visit this kind of places more out of curiosity and historical interest, but not as a pilgrim. This was my intention as well for coming to Jerusalem and Wailing Wall. But after watching all the people reading their prayers and putting small papers into the cracks of the wall I had a strange spiritual call to approach the wall and kind of talk to it. It sounds really crazy, but I've heard the same from many people later, that the wall has a strange influence on them. After some time I even felt like crying. I wrote my wishes on a small paper and left it in the wall. Later that year my wishes actually came true!!! I don't think it is right to use the Wailing Wall as the "magic Ginnie in a bottle", but my wishes concerned others people health, so I guess this is alright. [more] |
