The National Musuem of Taiwan Literature

Even if you don't know Mandarin, much less Taiwanese, I would recommend visiting this museum. I found the building, the Tainan's old city hall, and the way they added 'contemporary' wings to its colonial-style brick architecture extremely charming. Exhibits inside detail Taiwanese, Japanese, Mandarin and Classical Chinese literature anthologies and histories. You can find out all about Taiwanese transliteration and phoneticization, which I was never aware of before the visit. I also really enjoyed the multimedia projections and innovative paper sculptures. The old fire station across the main street is also a handsome building. [more]
