Ljubljana castle is located on Grajska planota 1. Ljubljana Castle is one of the prettiest and most imposing sights in Ljubljana. Some evidence suggests that the hill upon the castle is situated has been inhabited as early as 12th century however the first fortification of any notable dimensions was built during the Celtic times. In 14th century it became the property of the Habsburgs, while in 15th century larger, circular castle was built. Until 1814 this pretty place served as a prison, but in 1905 Municipality of Ljubljana bought the castle however it was used for residential purposes until 1964 and it went through the renovation.
