Johnson House

 stars
Dr. Johnson House is located at 17 Gough Square (to get there take tube to Blackfriars/Chancery Lane/Temple).

Dr. Johnson House dates back to 1700 and it is a beautifully restored residential house, one of the last kind still standing in London. The house was home to dr. Johnson who lived here from 1748 until 1759 and compiled the English dictionary. The house is a beautiful example of that period with its restored panel staircases and an extensive collection of portraits, period furniture and prints.

Opening hours are Monday to Saturday from 11:00am until 5:30pm (closing time at 5:00pm in the winter). Price of admission is Ł4.50. [more ]
