The National Museum in Poznan has a history that dates back to 1857. It was then the Museum of Polish and Slavic Antiquities and was established in the Grand Duchy of Poznań by the Poznań Society for the Friends of Sciences. One of the leading museums in all Poland, the Poznan National Museum houses 309,569 objects entered as 203,304 inventory items as well as 4,119 deposits. The art pieces included, date back from antiquity and some are even modern futuristic works of art.
