The Main Square
Every modern tourist town has a main square where it gathers its landmarks. This main square has pubs filled with Polish beer, the Drapers’ Hall, the town hall and a pillar. The latter is a funny looking erection made of sandstone. It used to be a place of punishment and shame, I suppose, as everyone can see you here. The punishments stopped 250 years ago, maybe more. Now it is a place where artists meet. I wanted to have my portrait painted with the pillar as a background but I guess it would have helped knowing their language. Be careful because you can use a great deal in the Square and might miss other locations. [more] |
