This is not a place most overseas tourists will expect to find on a wine estate in South Africa - one of the world's premier car collections, displayed in four huge barns! The brand new Franschhoek Motor Museum is essentially the private car garage of one of the country's richest men, and he really has some fine vehicles in there, including a large number of Ferraris. If you can, ask to be shown the "ICU", or intensive care unit, which is another barn in the back where all the restoration is done. Not all the cars are on display all the time, so phone beforehand and ask what you will see. It is not a cheap place to visit, but well worth it if you love cars.
