Getting to Phi Phi from Phukat Airport
Getting from Phuket to Phi Phi was pretty straightforward . There were two daily ferry services with available return trips departing from Phuket pier and Krabi. A one way ticket cost around 250 baht (€6). It took about 2 hours to arrive to Phi Phi Island. Some ferries make a stop at Tonsai Bay only, but if you book in advance they will take you to Laem Long, in case your hotel is located there. Otherwise there were plenty of long tail boat water taxi that will take you from harbor to harbor. Alternatively, during high season only, there was a ferry service from Koh Lanta. We flew directly to the Phukat International Airport and it took us almost 2 hours to get to the Phukat Pier. We were quite lucky to get in time for the last ferry. If you plan to do the same it may be advisable to check the ferry schedule. The ferries only depart during the morning and the afternoon. First departure at 8.30am and last one around 1.30pm. There are some speedboats that take about 1 hour to Phi Phi but this are only available through pre-booking with your hotel or tour operators. The views of Phi Phi from the ferry are magnificent . Make sure you have your camera ready! [more] |

Phi Phi beach to beach boat taxi
There were plenty of small long tail fishing boats available for hire on the Phi Phi harbor. The locals can take to remote, and otherwise inaccessible areas of the island, such desserted beaches and coves. Some are prepared to offer you some diving by the stunning cliffs. As there were no roads on Phi Phi Don and only footpaths between certain beaches the long tail boats took us across for a great day of hiking through the island treks. The views of this tropical paradise in the Andaman Sea are also spectacular from these little boats. [more] |

Phi Phi Small Eden
The impressive sight of Phi Phi islands rising from the sea is something that will stick in my mind permanently. As the ferry approached the islands the steep monumental cliffs gave way to the striking golden beaches.. I was highly surprised that such a sensational destination, so highly overpriced in many other world spots, was so affordable. Phi Phi welcomed any kind of budget. I pre-booked a bungalow that cost around €40 per night. There were cheaper options for backpackers but I wanted a private room. As you arrive to the harbor you´ll be approached by many locals offering you rooms but I was not disappointed with my hotel choice. The Phi Phi's islands were pretty small, but activities were numberless. The Phi Phi island´s bonus was the clear waters, perfect for snorkeling and diving as there was abundant marine life. A marvelous small Eden! [more] |

Tours to Phi Phi Le
Phi Phi Le is a marine park island and therefore is protected so you cant actually stay overnight on the island. Its so beautiful and all the tours take you to Maya Bay where the film 'The Beach' is filmed. Unfortunately there are a lot of tours that go there so there are quite a lot of people and boats there, it would be way better if it was a bit more deserted. The tours that are offered are generally all full days tours that take you snorkeling to see turtle, sharks etc, then to Phi Phi Le where you stop for lunch and on the way back you stop at monkey bay. There are loads of monkeys, pretty fat ones actually as every one feeds them! They even drink out of coke cans and steel food from people! The tour is a great day, but you are in the sun quite a lot so take a hat, suncream and something to cover you up as there is sun all day on the boat too. Watch out as sometimes there are jellyfish. If you are lucky you might see dolphins too! If you are visiting Phi Phi or Phucket then this tour is not to be missed! [more] |
