Budapest Holocaust Memorial Centre
The Budapest Holocaust Memorial Centre opened in 2006 and I found it to be one of the most powerful museums in the city. Unfortunately, it is located a short distance from those areas of the city centre most frequented by tourists, and as such few seem to know about this museum. I visited the museum twice, in May 2006 and June 2007, and each time there was only a small handful of visitors present.
The best way to get to the Holocaust Memorial Centre is to take the M3 metro line to Ferenc Körut. From here, it's about a 5 minute walk to 39 Páva Street. If you have a student card--be it from a high school, college or a university--make sure to bring it with you, as the HUF...
