Ned Kelly’s is a famous Aussie pub on Kowloon (Ashley Road, Tsim Sha Tsui) that’s great for a boozy night out. It’s slightly dingy but it is a fun place to hang out. As expected, the beers are mainly Aussie and the food is standard pub grub, but good and reasonably priced.
It’s very popular with ex-pats and tourists but probably most famous for its jazz band that plays nightly. Jazz isn’t really my cup tea but after a few beers it’s amazing what you’ll sing along to and how many slightly typsy friends you'll make. A noisy and fun night out. [more ]
Helluva Night Out!
Went to NK's Last Stand club during Christmas week 2012. Been to HK many, many times and for some reason never got there for a great jazz night. Great fun, great jazz (some of it for the purists) and of course lots of seasonal stuff thrown in. A "free" night out, depending on your ale capacity, but don't spend too much time in the loo as it seems to be almost part of an open sewer! Didn't try the grub but plenty of it being demolished.
International composition of the band - Brits, Filipinos, Japanese, italian - anybody, and if you can find a space on the stage you can almost certainly jam with 'em yourself. Just go there and have a great night out!!
