Varna also has a very impressive cathedral, just like Sofia. The cathedral of Varna is neither as big nor as famous as the Alexander Nevski in Sofia, but I think it's really worth visiting. The cathedral was erected at the end of the 19th century and its predominant style is Byzantine. Just like Alexander Nevsi, it was built as a memorial for gaining the independence from the Ottoman Empire and the reestablishment of Christianity in Bulgaria.
