Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, Cape Town

4.0 stars

Cape Town´s Amazing Waterfront

The Victoria & Albert Waterfront is a lively shopping and restaurants complex. I really loved the Clock Tower and the views of the sea and Table Mountain. There are lots of activities available so you could easily spend a whole day there. The complex includes luxury apartments and hotels. I visited it about three times during my stay in Cape Town. You can have lunch in the many restaurants available but you can also have a take away and seat in the park while listening to the street musicians. If you are looking for Boating activities there are lots of options from the Waterfront. [more ]

V&A Waterfront, Cape Town, South Africa

I guess no matter how commercial this place has become, it still has a very unique appeal of its own - I mean, the V&A Waterfront is not only a big shopping mall - its a big shopping mall set against the backdrop of Table Mountain, Lion's Head, and the Atlantic ocean. You don't get THAT anywhere else.
After recent renovations its bigger than ever, and you can blow your whole month's salary here in a few hours. Many fashion stores, but my favourites are the book (Exclusive Books, with a cup of coffee) and the huge Musica store. And I must recommend the new Toy Kingdom shop too, as well as just going kicking tyres in the new Aston Martin dealership across the road. Sometimes they've got artists performing live outside too. Yes, I still like this place very much. [more ]

The Victoria and Alfred Waterfront

One of my lasting memories of Cape Town in South Africa is early morning jogs through the bustling Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, with Table Mountain looming in the rising sun.
It is one of my favourite parts of town, with its open quaysides and pedestrian precincts. One of the coolest things to see is the Two Oceans Aquirium, which gives you a unique view of some of the region's marine animals. Over 300 species are represented, including sharks, tuna, rays and penguins.
The waterfront is also a shopper's paradise, with everything from clothing to jewlery to food, with the Victoria Wharf providing a selection of up market outlets.
I also used to enjoy running underneath the Time Ball Tower, which was once used by ships to set their clocks, the Old Clock Tower (which contains a clock and tide gauge), and the seals that basked in the sun on Victoria Basin used to watch me as if I was mad.
The Victoria and Alfred Waterfront is a lovely place to enjoy, just try to get there early enough to beat the crowds. [more ]

Victoria & Alfred Waterfront (V&A)

The V&A Waterfront is one of the most popular spots in Cape Town for tourists but can get very busy at times. Locals tend to think it’s expensive but that’s more to do with the lower cost of living in SA. It is still a working harbour but parts have been extensively redeveloped and restored and now provide over numerous shops, cafes, restaurants, pubs, a museum and an aquarium.

Amongst the usual fast food take-away there are still a few gems to be found such as the Ferryman’s Tavern. I was told South African steaks were the finest and I have to agree. Two T-bone steaks grilled to perfection, plus drinks, set us back just under ZAR350 which was a bargain for what we had. Service was warm and friendly. [more ]
