Backfischfest
Last Saturday the biggest festival on the Weinstrasse, the Backfischfest, started. It is held in Worms, near the river. My boyfriend and I went to have a look. We liked it a lot. It’s pretty much a typical german fair, with rollercoasters and similar attractions. They have many terraces, where you mostly have to eat standing. The food is rather expensive, but you can choose from a wide variety, like chinese, german, italian, etc. They also have a lot of shops with clothes, souvenirs, bags and all kind of sweets. Backfisch Fest
“The Backfisch Fest” is the biggest carnival of the region and it is set near the river. There are roller coasters, ferry’s wheel, and many other carnival games where you can win prices. I tried a game where I had to hit the target with a ball, but I missed the first throw, so I only got a really bad prize. The carnival starts in mid august and everybody goes. When the carnival starts you can barely see few people walking around downtown, because most people are at the carnival. I just went once and as in all carnivals, food is expensive as well as drinks but to have a drink there is part of the experience. I really liked it and definitely I will go again this year. [more] |
