But all that jumping around in the water made me ravenous. At hand were these vendors selling misti (sweetmeat) and delectable miniature samosas. The Puri beach is devoid of even a scrap of shade. But for a pittance the nuliyas will pitch a tent with colourful Pipli work done on them and even pull out some easy chairs for you. After lazing in the sun for half an hour more I headed for Z restaurant. It has a mixed clientele of foreigners and Indians. Their lobster thermidor was definitely their piece de resistance. Biting into genuine unrefrigerated freshness of the seafood I was lulled into an epicurean stupor. All my senses were sufficiently inebriated to sink into oblivion. But I was not alone. It was siesta time in Puri, which has been fashioned into fine art by the Oriyas. As the afternoon descended into Puri the whole town seemed to gravitate towards Lethe.
