Suan Lum night bazaar
I very much appreciated my time at the Suan Lum night bazaar, however it now is going through an interesting time. This famous wide expanse of open land which housed a beer garden and sprawling market complete with its famous big wheel was recently sold to a developer with the aim of creating a large indoor shopping mall. Having enjoyed the views from the top of the big wheel before, it is sad to see that it has gone, but nearly a year after the sale, there is no sign of any work starting on the shopping mall, and much of the night bazaar appears to be alive and well. The area houses a maze of streets with permanent market stalls, a large number of open air restaurants, some park and walking areas, and a large beer garden with a stage at one end which is often in use. Whether it will remain an open space remains to be seen, but for now it can still be enjoyed. [more] |
