Seminary Palace and Library
Seminary palace (Semeniška Palača) and library is located on Dolničarjeva ulica 4, just behind the cathedral. It dates back to 1714 and it was designed by Carlo Martinuzzi. The impressive outside entrance portal was designed by a local famous stonemason Luka Mislej and it has the Hercules statues that were designed by Angello Putti. Inside the Seminary Palace you can find the oldest and first public library in Slovenia that opened its doors in 1701. After 50 or so years being a public library it was handed over to the theologians. Inside you can also find a number of valuable manuscripts and books as well as wonderful ceilings paintings and furniture. It is considered to be one of the prettiest Baroque buildings in Ljubljana.
