Star Cafe
Walking along the winter promenade of Rein river we got a little cold and really needed some good warm coffee. On Sundays everything is slower in Mainz and we were not sure if at that late hour we can expect a good choice of cafes in that area. Malakoff Passage was on the way so we went in and found a nice cafe-bar Star Coffee. Luckily they had a good choice of warm drinks and quite good variety of food. My Latte Machiato was excellent and nachos for a snack were served with very fresh spicy sauce. Lounge music at the background created a good atmosphere. We were seating outside in the Passage area but the heater was warming us just right. Non-smoking rule is covering more and more Federal Lands of Germany, but it didn't reach Rheinland-Pfalz yet (though it's just a matter of time), so we could smoke at our table. There is also the inside area where non-smokers can enjoy there drinks and meals undisturbed. We've noticed a good list of cocktails and finger-food on the menu. They also show big sport events on big screens, so we are definitely going to come back to watch some soccer games later. Waiters are fast and friendly, interior is nice, food and drinks are tasty, promenade is just a step away - not so easy to find this kind of full package in Mainz. [more] |
