LAX Airport, Los Angeles

Suggestions For Layover In Los Angeles

I’ve never been able to sleep well when flying to some remote destination. That’s why whenever possible I fly out to my departure city either the day before an over the water flight or at least as early as I can on the morning of my departure. Then I spend the night on the west coast (LAX). I’ve found it makes my trip more pleasant. There are a number of motels around the LAX area that have half-day rates (ie Travel Lodge @ LAX). These motels have eased some of my jet-lag by having swimming pools and adequate rooms available for a nap. It sure beats being stuck at the airport sitting for some long layover time in some uncomfortable seat waiting for 7-8 hours for a connecting flight. Many of the motels have shuttle services available and I can usually contact them from a wall of phones placed in the baggage claim area. If I have a lot of time between flights, then I can make arrangements for some of the short tours that are available in the Los Angeles area. [more ]
