Felsengaenge
One of the most interesting things I have seen in Nuremberg were the Felsengaenge. These are subterranean passages, built very deep in the ground. They date from the 14th Century and were built to store beer. They were also used for collecting fresh water. They were strangely built. You definitely get a feeling of claustrophoby in there, but they are really worth seeing. People also used these cellars as catacombs during the second world war. I strongly recommend visiting them. The entrance costs around 4 Euro, but the price is included in the Nuremberg Card. [more] |
