Karni Mata Rat Temple
Just imagine that you are in the middle of the North-Indian Desert. Just for Fun! Then you jump into a Hindu-Temple. Because there is not anything else to do and why are you in India anyway? Like me. We wanted to go to a city which streets had been flooded. But this mischief brought me to the place that flooded my imagination. The Karni Mata Temple close to Bikaner is off from any travel-route, a diamond among travellers. This holy place is solely dedicated to rats. I wonder how they came there, but now they are treated like kings. They are fed by men with milk and candies. If the rats would express their desire to have a joint I`m sure that the serving monks would fulfil this wish. The creatures run around, they sleep (sic!) on the fences or in the middle of the path. They have absolutely no natural enemies and can die only because of fat heart or due to suffocation while eating. As a human you are blessed when the rats run over your feet, while playing with each other. I spotted a white one, which made my co-spectators very excited. And when i left the temple i felt ... i felt... i felt just awesome. [more] |
