I have been to Budapest so many times, I can not count it anymore. I love the place, its a beautiful city, gorgeous places to see, great places to go out at night, people are friendly. But the food, oh the food. I do love my food. One of the best places in Budapest is Kek Rosza, (Wesselenyi u.9). It is tucked away just behind the sinagogue. Its relatively small, but the smell that hits you when you walk in, absolutely divine. The stuff is friendly although only some of them speak English,but it is easy to communicate your order. However as it is so small its best to avoid during lunch hours as it can get very crowded and you might have to wait a while. My favourite are the cheese stuffed mushrooms, but if thats not to your taste the menu is really extensive. I have tried to make something similar to the stuffed mushrooms at home however I have failed miserably. I do hope I will be going back to Budapest soon :) Also what I have noticed, at least every time I have been there, we were the only tourists. I guess I wouldnt even know about it if it was not for a friend that lived there for 5 years. But best of all are the prices, its beyond affordable. Dirt cheap really. So do give it a visit. [more] |
