Mekong Vietnamese Restaurant - amazing!
Mekong Vietnamese Restaurant is on George Street, just a few blocks off of Albany Street. It has great prices for large servings. There are vegetarian dishes along with beef, chicken, shrimp and pork. The soups are served with a small flat spoon and chopsticks. I didn’t know this, but the soup is to be eaten with chopsticks. Since I’m not proficient with chopsticks, this took awhile! But they also have Western-style silverware available upon request. I ordered a soup with yellow noodles and wontons. It was fantastic. We ordered bean sprouts to share as a table to put in the soup; it was amazing! The food is really filling and really delicious. The servers are ready with suggestions if you don’t know what you want. Desserts are also available, featuring fruit shakes, some of which seemed a bit off-putting (avocado and mung bean) but if the rest of the food is any measure, I’m sure they are delicious. The lighting is low and the tables and chairs are simple, but it’s a cozy and warm place. I would definitely recommend it. Main dishes cost about $5.95 to $9.95. Reservations are not needed. [more] |
