Shangri-La Hotel in New Delhi
Ahh, the true depiction and experience of luxury. There are reams of supposed 5-star hotels in New Delhi, but after mirroring it to international standards, I found the Shangri-La Hotel to truly live up to its rating. Don't get me wrong, the other hotels are nice, but certainly don't exude the regal aura and opulence that a 5-star hotel should. It could also be that the Shangri-La is the newest of the luxury hotel trail in Delhi, sprouting up only 3 years ago. The rooms are flooded with the latest technology including Hi-definition TVs and WiFi, and beaming with world-class amenities. There are multicuisine restaurants; a 24-hour coffee shop; Valentino and Escada boutiques; and a state-of-the-art spa facility. Ahh, and I can't forget my favorite part--the lobby. It's an oasis of elegance complemented by regal golden hues and brimming with crystal chandeliers to reflect the richness of India's culture and history. It's also nestled in the heart of New Delhi; only moments away from the biggest commercial areas and tourist attractions like Janpath and Jantar Mantar.
