If you're taking a trip to the Yad Vashem, the holocaust museum in Jerusalem, you might as well swing over to Mount Herzl too! It's only a few minutes away and can serve as a finishing touch to a day trip in the city.
Mount Herzl is a national cemetery where several historic and famous Israelis are buried including Yitzhak Rabin, Golda Meir, and of course, Theodor Herzl.
It's essentially a large park that's been maintained with the utmost care. Be sure to bring your walking shoes because it's quite large! I would also recommend plenty of water and food for an afternoon picnic. Mt. Herzl has just recently been inaugurated as a national cemetery for Israel's fallen soldiers. It's best compared to Arlington National Cemetery in the United States. [more ]
