Tabula Rasa with an Arabian Flair
Tabula Rasa--definitely an interesting name that invokes curiosity on part of the reader. Latin for "blank slate", Tabula Rasa is a huge restaurant/lounge bar sprawled out on the top floor of one of South Delhi's premier shopping malls, Square One Mall. I went there a few times and found it rather bland on regular nights. While there were scores of people and the music and drinks were up to par, I always felt like there was something missing. The only time I really had a great time was when they had theme nights or guest DJs and international artists. The terrace was converted into a spacious bar and dance floor and people grooved to live music all night long. It also has ladies night on Wednesday nights, so ladies waltz in and select your favorite flavored martinis from the hottest mixologists in town! Another event that makes Tabula Rasa a serious contender in the nightlife scene of Delhi is its Arabian Bazaar that kicks off every alternate Thursday. The entire lounge space transforms into an Arabian-style bazaar and wardrobe essentials to home furnishings are showcased. Fitting to the Arabian theme, the restaurant offers mouthwatering bites of falafel, schwarma, and hummus and pita while background Arabic music seductively brings out the belly-dancer in you.
