Nobody Ruan-ed this Thai! (Get it?)
Ruan Thai opened up in late 2007, and many people that were die-hard fans of Siagon across the street now had an option for their Thai food. I like Ruan quite a bit more than Siagon, which tries to split it's menu between Viet and Thai to much. Ruan is a bit more authentic than Siagon, with a menu that doesn't stray much from the traditional favorites. Crispy duck, spicy curry, pad thai, the gang's all here. I also like that it's reasonably priced, especially considering that they do try for a little bit of an upscale presentation. Your garnish is likely to be a carrot slice shaped like a butterfly (how do they do that, anyway?) or an orchid, and yet on a $9 plate of tofu stir fry. It's that little extra bit that sets them apart from the competition. If you're dying for a decent Thai meal in the middle of a place where you didn't expect to see anything but fried chicken and grits, then this is the place for you. [more] |
