Jasna Gora sanctuary
About 90 minutes away from Krakow you can find the location of Jasna Gora sanctuary. It has become a tradition for Polish people to go on the pilgrimage to pray to Our Lady of Czestochowa. But pilgrims come from all over the world. The Holy picture of Our Lady of Czestochowa is believed to be painted by St. Luke the evangelist himself. Next to it you can find the church that dates back to 16th century. Many come here to pray (most important pilgrimage dates are in May, September and August) and the ones that had their prayers answered leave notes of thanks at the sanctuary. [more] |
