German food in Lapa stars

The name of the bar is a bit misleading, as Bar Brasil actually specialises in German food. And very tasty German food it is too. The potato salad is particularly good, and meat eaters can't get enough of the sausage platter and smoked chicken. The bar's a bit of an antique - Cariocas have been filling their faces with food and booze here since 1907 - and there's a real historic charm to the place. It gets busy at lunchtimes, but hefty ceiling fans ensure things never get too sticky even on the hottest of summer days.
