Seri Melayu the Only Restaurant That Serves Strong-Smell Durians
For you who don’t know yet, the durians are the Asian fruit famous for its smell and taste. “Tastes Like Heave and Smells Like Hell” is its motto. While the durians are a big hit among Asians, I’ve found that about half western tourists beg to differ on the taste. Meaning it’s “Smells Like Hell and Tastes Like Hell” for them. But bear with me. Seri Melayu Restaurant can change your opinion. It’s the only restaurant in Kuala Lumpur that serves durians, but not in their original form. They are beaten into paste and cooked with milk that you can eat with relish. It tastes almost like Mid Eastern food. Price here is USD11-20. Apart from this Malay food, there is a variety of Chinese and Indian food as well such as the roti canai (tasty Indian bread) and mee rebus (noodle in thick sauce). [more] |

Cultural Show While You Eat at Seri Melayu Restaurant
Seri Melayu Restaurant at Jalan (Street) Conlay is really my favourite as it has cultural shows while you eat. The buffet and nightly show is a big hit among locals and foreigners alike. The best show is the mock Malay wedding ceremony and folk dances that originate from various states in the country. Not only that. The restaurant’s traditional Malay architecture also nicely complements the shows. Altogether, it’s a complete Malay heritage experience you shouldn’t miss.
