The Jolly Farmers Pub in Enfield
The first thing you notice about this pub, is not the smell of beer from several blocks away, nor its incredible size, but flowers. The exterior is decked out with dozens of hanging baskets and it looks a pretty and inviting sight. In fact the Jolly Farmers has won several local competitions for its appearance.
Inside the owners have pulled off a tricky feat. It is a large space, but they’ve divided the pub into several areas with couches, tables and chairs dotted around, giving it a rather intimate feel.
As with many pubs in the UK these days, it’s not primarily a drinking den. Food is the big thing here, and it’s not bad at all. There won’t be anything that’ll blow your mind or your taste buds, but if you want a good pie and chips or simple chicken dish, then you won’t be disappointed. To wash it all down there is a good selection of real ales and wines, and the guest ales are always worth investigating. [more ]
