Traditional Crafts from OTOP
OTOP is the Thailand government official shop chain for the sale of genuine crafts. The idea was created quite a while ago, and supports the rural communities who make a lot of the textiles, silverware and ceramics bought by tourists. Often the profits for these goods go straight to the big retailers, leaving the village crafts people with little to show for their work. OTOP is geared towards ensuring these people make a good living from their crafts and that the profits are fairly distibuted.
