Awesome cake
This is technically an East European and health food joint... odd combination, I know. Especially when you throw in the enormous amount of cake they serve. I didn't even realize until I had been several times that Futures offered anything besides the cake and cheesecake that greets you in a large glass case when you enter the room. The cakes and cheesecakes on offer change daily: there is a menu, but the only way to know which of these items--and which new varieties--are on offer is to peer into the glass case yourself and decide what you like. Students from the University of Toronto just down the street constantly move in with a group of friends and order several pieces of cake (with some hot coffee to wash it down) and go to town on them. However, after several visits, I also managed to try the pierogies, and now I understand why the East European population of Toronto sits side-by-side with the college students at this bizarre hodgepodge café on Bloor.
