Scenic drive to the Island of the Sky
The Island in the Sky was an immense area of magnificent sandstone cliffs about 400 meters above the surrounding terrain. The Island was the easiest, most accessible area of Canyonlands National Park. Along the paved scenic drive there were many viewpoints where we can enjoyed superb views of this spectacular rock formations. It took us around 1 hour to get here from Moab. In similarity with most of all the huge National Parks in Utah, shops were not available so it´s essential you are well stocked with food, petrol and water. There were ranger guided tours organised from the Visitor Center but this were strictly from Spring to Fall. [more] |
