Malaysian Food
The original Malaysian restaurant in Philadelphia’s Chinatown. Even though some of their staff left to start Banana Leaf (see other review), which has threatened to become the new favorite, I still think there are some dishes that Penang does a little better. For example, the Penang Lo Bak (an assortment of meat and vegetables with special dipping sauce) is crispier and richer, and for what it’s worth the complimentary dessert at the end of the meal is delicious. Penang has an open kitchen right next to the seating area, so it’s great for ambience. Bring lots of cash because they don’t take credit cards, and BYOB as well! [more] |
