Palacio Nacional, Mexico City

Magnificent Diego Rivera´s Murals at Palacio Nacional

The Palacio Nacional (National Palace) was surprisingly not busy. It seemed that this fantastic building did not attract as many tourists as other sites. This palace was located right in the city´s main with a strikingly long facade. Only some areas of this palace were accessible to tourist visits. But the highlight of the palace was the magnificent Diego Rivera´s painted murals. From "History and Perspective of Mexico" a fantastic artwork depicting Mexico from its Ancient History to revolution times to one of the most striking artworks I´ve ever seen "The Legend of Quetzalcoatl" located on the left hand side as we walked up the stairs. The National Palace had fantastic courtyards and rooms fourteen courtyards as well as being the home of one of the most important libraries in Mexico. [more ]
