Arthur Leipzig, Next Stop New York
Arthur Leipzig is a famous photographer from New York. When I read “Next Stop New York”, I expected the photos are all from New York. But not all of them were taken in New York. I really enjoy Arthur Leipzig’s photos. He took a lot of photos from little kids; little kids were playing, little kids were lining up at the swimming pool, or little kids jumping. You can see all these photos at the first room at Suermondt Ludwig Museum. There are 34 photos and mostly photos of people (kids and adults). I like the way Arthur Leipzig captured the happiness and sadness that was described on the children’s faces. In the second room of the exhibition, you’ll find mostly “silent” photos, cos they are mostly photos of landscape, houses, buildings, working fields or rain. One of my favorite photographs is a face photograph; it describes a man who is struggling. In this room, you can enjoy 38 photographs. The last room, I call it the “passion room” and also in this room, you’ll find out why it is called Next Stop New York. There are 34 photographs, and mostly photos of kissing couples. They were kissing on the beach, kissing in the train, kissing in the subway. And there is one photograph depicting four men waiting for a subway. They were all in different expressions.
