Meson Cervantes is a traditional Mediterranean restaurant in the town of Santa Pola.
I love this restaurant.
It is Spanish owned and run. The Waitresses are Mother and Daughter, and Father works in the kitchen.
They are very friendly people who make you most welcome. They have limited spoken English so try and speak a little Spanish to them. The menus are in Spanish and English, so you can point to what you want.
They serve traditional lunchtime menu of the day (menu del dia) and also have a la carte menu.
I have tried both on several occasions.
For the menu del dia, you receive a plateful of salad at your table. One of my favourite starters is the chipirones, fried squid in batter, very tasty. This can be followed by pork chop, lamb, chicken, tuna or swordfish, all are cooked very perfectly.
Dessert is basic, a crème caramel, ice cream or fruit. You also get on small drink, either wine, beer or soft drink. For around 10€ per person, this is excellent value for money.
For an evening meal, I have had a starter of a Russian salad, followed by steak, and finished off with a chocolate tart. Excellent, well cooked food in nice surroundings, with friendly staff.
I thoroughly recommend this restaurant. Santa Pola is only some 20 minutes drive from Alicante city and 15 minutes from the airport. It is a tourist town and easy to get to. [more ]
