Transfer at Tamarind
This resort is close to the airport and so I was offered a room here by Sri Lankan airlines when I had a long transfer wait. The transfer took about fifteen minutes by car. It was a pretty nice place, with reasonable rooms, laid out as bungalows. My bungalow had a TV and sitting area; a double bedroom; a bathroom with hot shower, W.C. and beadaa which made me laugh, a self-contained ‘sink area’ – which was a bit shabby. The bungalow had a couple of chairs on the balcony, which opens out into a beautiful garden of palm trees and paths leading to the pool. The garden was roamed by these strange little animals that I never saw before, they reminded me of the squirrels we have in England. The pool was pretty good, with sun chairs around it and a lifeguard on duty who I asked if I could swim in my boxers because i didn't have shorts, and he told me he'd turn a blind eye. All the staff were really friendly and always about to help – there was free tea and coffee all day, which is a quality I love in a hotel!. And at dinner there was good selection of Western and Asian foods laid out as a buffet. [more] |
