Church of Saint Peter the Apostle
The Parish Church of Saint Peter the Apostle was built in 1743 and belongs to the diocese of Orihuela/Alicante. It is dedicated to Saint Peter the Apostle, from whom it takes its name. The church contains several images; the most notable is Our Lady of Good Remedy (Nuestra Senora del Remedio) the patron saint of Pinoso. In April, Pinoso has an Easter week (Semana Santa) parade in which the image of the Virgin is paraded around the streets of the town.
The Alter on which the image is placed was granted a privilege in writing by Pope Pious IX on September 27th 1867.
It is quite a nice church to look at, and very decorative inside.
Pinoso is a town in the province of Alicante (Land of Valencia), Spain.
It is about 50 kilometres from Alicante, and can be accessed from the A31 motorway (Alicante to Madrid) by exiting at Elda/Monovar turn off, flowing signs to Monovar then El Pinos or Pinoso. [more ]
