The beautiful and "reverent" cathedral square
Plaza del Obradoiro is the square surrounding the Cathedral of Santiago. It´s a large square usually buzzing with tourists, pilgrims and street musicians in summer time, although in winter some of the brave still play outside. From the square there is an impressive view of the entire cathedral facade so it is perfectly sized to have enough room to take pictures. There are not terrace bars or shops as to keep a sense of reverence for the pilgrims arriving at the square. In one side a government building and the other adjacent building a hotel. But taking the first street to the right of the cathedral there are many bars, restaurants and shops. [more] |
