One hour fantastic walk through a tropical forest and prehistoric caves
The Niah national park was the home for the Niah Great Cave and the Kain Hitam or Painted Cave where remains of prehistoric life was found. The Kain Hitam was found to be used as a place for prehistoric burials. Niah National park was just 3 km from Batu Niah so in order to reach the caves we walked for about 50 minutes over wooden walks in the forest surrounded by unnumbered amounts of birds and butterflies. A real nature show all the way! The caves also were prepared with wooden paths and despite not finding them as spectacular as those in Mulu, the walk through the hour walk through the tropical forest was a magnificent experience.
