Largest pizzas in Munich at L'Osteria
This Italian restaurant serves the biggest pizzas I have ever seen. L’Osteria is located in Leopoldstrasse, only two stops away from Marienplatz and is easy to get to by public transport.
The restaurant serves great Italian food at amazingly low prices compared to other Italian restaurants in Munich. L’Osteria is famous for its giant pizzas. They are so big that I have never managed to finish one. Most people share a pizza with their friends or family which makes it even cheaper to eat there. You can choose different toppings on each side and the pizza halves are served on two plates.
This place is so popular that it is usually difficult to get a table especially when you are quite a few people. It is best to make a table reservation in advance, otherwise you might have to wait at the bar until a table becomes available. Especially in the evenings around 8 o’clock and on weekends it is always full.
During summer months you can even sit outside and enjoy your pizza on their patio.
Now while the food is superb, the service really isn’t. I have been in there with three friends and we all ordered pizzas at the same time. The first pizza arrived after about 15 minutes, the second pizza took another 15 minutes to get to our table and the last two pizzas took over one hour. And that is although we had complained about it three times. The waiter was friendly and apologised but having to wait over 45 minutes between the first and the last pizza was served really ruined our evening. Then the same thing happened about two weeks later when they actually managed to completely forgot my friend’s pizza.
The atmosphere in there is nice and the food is great at even better prices. So if you don’t mind that your meals might not get served at the same time, this restaurant is worth trying. [more ]
Munich - pizza and beer at L'Osteria
I was one night at L’Osteria, while walking along Leopoldstraße with some friends - and all of us were starving. It turned out to be a good choice, warm ambiance, nice decor full of mirrors and “baking” items on the tables and walls around.
The pizzas were good and the beer selection also. Since this is located near LMU, expect lots of university students to be around – which is quite nicely actually.
The tables had this funny pistol like support for the lamps – so there is some care with the design of the place. Prices were quite acceptable and the service fast and efficient. There is a U-bahn station nearby, so it is easy to go to L’Osteria. [more ]
