Romantic Italian hideaway
Cafe Delfini is one of my favorite little gems amongst Italian eateries in Santa Monica. Tugged away in Santa Monica canyon, a little community just north of Third Street Promenade along Pacific Coast Highway, this tiny romantic hideaway serves authentic, fresh Northern Italian cuisine in a cozy, candle-lit dining room. All the pastas are homemade, and they always have daily specials. From the menu I can recommend the Bresaola (thinly sliced Italian aged beef) with arugula and parmesan to start, and then the Linguini in pesto-tomato sauce. For dessert, the Bacio (chocolate and hazelnut ice cream, encased in dark chocolate) is delicious! The waiters are all very knowledgeable when it comes to suggesting food and wine from an impressive, yet fair-priced wine list.
