Big City Small World Bakery in Ann Arbor

 stars
I was on the way to a party one evening and happened to see the lovely Big City Small World Bakery. You almost can’t miss the corner brick building painted in a cheery yellow. I thought I’d pick up some desserts to share with my friends and popped in. It was my first visit and I was quite pleased with the offerings. Prices are more expensive than a chain like Dunkin’ Donuts or goods at a general grocery store, but the quality of the ingredients and the special preparation are more than worth it. Big City Small World Bakery is open seven days a week and is located at 500 Miller Street, not too far from University of Michigan’s central campus and downtown Ann Arbor. Scott Newell is the proprietor. Their telephone number is 734.668.7688. I saw all kinds of sweets and breads to choose from – tortes, cinnamon rolls, muffins, cakes, cookies, cupcakes, chocolates, and fresh bread in different shapes, sizes, and flavors. There are even vegan items if you’re into that sorta thing, too. I got a box of about five or six sweet items including a selection of muffins and the total came to about US$15.00. They were a huge hit at the party, so the bakery clearly does a good job. If you like down-to-earth types of places, i.e., the kind with chalkboard menus, chilled out staff, and real food, then I recommend heading to Big City Small World Bakery when you next get the chance.
