Monument - Sagrado Corazon de Jesus (Sacred Heart of Jesus)
Barinas is a small town, in the province of Abanilla. I have seen the rugged slopes of the nearby Sierra de Barinas Mountains. The history of barinas goes back to 1810 when a man who came from Venezuela settled in the area and built a house and named the village Barinas, after the name of his home town. The village appears to be quite religious. As I was driving through this town, high up on the hill side I saw a monument, which I have found out is called El Sagrado Corazon de Jesus (The Sacred Heart of Jesus). The monument looks out over the town, to protect its people. Apparently it was located there on December 26th 1958. Interesting monument to look at, when passing through such an area. [more] |
