If the staff noticed you are at thebar, this place could have been a Chorlton gem. Otherwise, be prepared to prop the bar forever, while your friends are cosied into one of the settee booths or picnic tables in the heated, outdoor seating area. This bar is one of the pubs with people along Chorlton's mini Las Vegas strip of venues near the 'Four Banks' crossroads on all the major bus routes. Apart from the Nook next door, the other pubs do not seem to see much trade. Abode is spacey, with half the pub set aside for prop-me-up punters at the bar area, where there is plenty of room to swing a dog which customers bring on occasion, leaving the remainder of the venue for seats. There are plenty of dark corners to hide when you do not know the answer to that pub quiz question - Wednesday's popular entertainment. Abode also puts on live bands and has DJ performances, but it is perhaps best sticking to providing a pint and a place to smoke, if you get served, that is. [more] |
