Fresh and Authentic Vietnamese Food
I lived in Vietnam for a year, so I’m a big fan of Vietnamese food and I love to try the Vietnamese restaurants in town. Nam-Viet is my favorite. It’s conveniently located about half a block from the Cleveland Park metro stop in a non-descript strip mall. The atmosphere inside is nothing too special, though I do enjoy the Saigon-inspired mural on the wall. It’s clean and comfortable. The prices for a meal range from about $12 to $17 for a very generous helping of noodles, rice, veggies and meat. My favorite is the grilled pork with spring rolls over vermicelli (thin rice noodles). The pork is perfectly marinated and cooked, the ingredients are authentic (and fresher than you usually get in Vietnam) and the meal is big enough for me to take home and have for lunch the next day. Another item not to miss is the iced and sweetened Vietnamese coffee. It’s a unique version of coffee, and my absolute favorite beverage. [more] |
