Newport bay Hotel, Disneyland Resort
This is one of the Disney hotels located by the lake approx 10minutes walk from the Park. It is themed in a New-England seaside resort / nautical theme.
The hotel facilities include indoor pool with jacuzzi, fitness club& gym with massages available, sauna, 2 restaurants, bar and shop. There is wi-fi available in public areas and for rooms on 5th-8th floors, but this is at an additional charge. Check out is by 11am but they do have a secure left-luggage office so you can enjoy time in the park on your last day. The staff are helpful and friendly and speak good English.
The rooms are comfortable with two double beds, TV, minibar (which was quite expensive), safe, phone and hairdryer. Tea/coffee making facilities are only available in the Admiral’s rooms on the 5th floor (but you could take a kettle as milk can be bought in the hotel shop). Ice is available on all floors. Room service is available 24hrs and starts from 11Euros for a main. I wouldn’t recommend paying extra for a lake-side view.
You need to book restaurants in the hotel or you can exchange your vouchers for other restaurants in other hotels or the parks. The Yacht club is table service and specialises in fish and seafood, the Cape Cod restaurant is an international buffet and s open from 6.30-10.30pm. However this restaurant did get very busy even out of high season and they did start to clear away food from 10pm. The buffet dinner consisted of soup, salads, pasta, various meat, fish, vegetables and potatoes and a selection of cakes, ice-cream and fruit and cheese and biscuits for dessert – it was very child-friendly. Only soft drinks are included in the vouchers you get with half-board, glasses of wine start from about 5Euros.
Buffet breakfast is from 6.20-10.30am in both restaurants. You can exchange your breakfast in the hotel for breakfast in the Plaza gardens in the park. Be warned 9-9.30am is a very busy time! The buffet is continental – pastries, breads, cereals, cold meats and cheese and fruit, as well as juice, tea and coffee. You can buy a hot American breakfast for 6Euros.
It is very convenient for the parks and the benefits include your entrance to the parks included, Disney characters in the lobby each morning, and you can get the free shuttle bus which runs every 10-15mins to the parks and station. Staying at a Disney hotel also means you get 2 extra hours in the park in the morning (although not all rides are open then). However this hotel seemed very busy and we seemed to be forever queuing for the restaurants. [more]
