Be Careful Where You Step in Rockefeller Park
Actually, within the area along the stretch of the World Financial Center is an oasis known as Rockefeller Park. I love the wonderful vistas towards the Statue of Liberty and the Palisades in New Jersey. It is a lovely area to spread out a blanket and plan a picnic on a nice day while watching the cruise ships in the summer. The Great Irish Famine is represented by the Irish Hunger Memorial. This is where I consider as the start of the park. This re-creation brings an interesting rural Irish landscape with an abandoned stone cottage, right in the city. As an art lover, the portion of the park that is a favorite is the sculpture garden. I love walking alone or with the family to view the bronze collection known as the Real World, sculpted by Tom Otterness. Among the wild flowers and fauna, there are tiny creatures that lurk everywhere. Along the path, be observant or you may miss their antics. [more] |
